Kolar or Kolara is a city located in Karnataka state. Kolar was earlier called Kolahalapura during the Middle Ages. The city is famous for its milk production and the gold mines. This place is also known for Someshwara temple and the Kolaramma temple. kolahahapura means “violent city” in kannad. Kolar was the battlefield for the Chalukyas and the Cholas.
